CURRIER, Edward Wilson (1857-1918)
Painter. Born in Marietta. OH on Oct. 11, 1857
the son of lithographer Charles Jacob Currier and
ephew of Nathaniel Currier of Currier & Ives
=dward's art studies were at the Academv of Fine
Arts in Chicago and with G. L. Clough in New York
He settled in San Francisco in 1882 into a studic
in the old "Monkev Block" (now the Transamerica
Pyramid)

Working in oil and watercolor, his subjects
include landscapes, coastal scenes. still lifes
views of San Francisco, and an occasional
seascape. Much of his early work was lost in the
earthquake and fire of 1906. Currier died at his
Nov. 15 Mechanics' Inst. (SF), 1896-97; 1918. Exh:
