Nicholson, Donald (1900-1985) Painter, muralist. Born in Lynn,MS on Mar 14 1900, Nicholson earned his master of Fine Arts degree from the Corcoran Gallery of Art and his doctorate degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 1917-56 he worked as an international spy for the US, Canada, and England while painting at this leisure. He settled in Orange, Calif., pon retirement from espionage. He remained there until his demise in LA on Feb 6 1985. His early work is representational and later work abstract. As a scientist, he developed ,the ABC Filter system for Eastman Kodak. Exh: Library of Congress. Works held: Tate Museum London; Boston Museum, Library of Congress; Dayton Art Inst. Murals: Yale School of Medicine; Cooper Union NYC Louiseville Post Office; Indiana State Capital; National Gallery (Ottowa,Canada)
