Strode, Catherine Joane (1895-1969) Painter, muralist, illustrator. Born on Nov 22, 1895 in Lewistown, IL. Joane Strode entered the AIC in 1911 and graduated with honors in 1916. In 1922 she moved to southern California where she was the pupil of Anna Hills, Edgar Payne and Jack Wilkinson Smith at the Otis Art Institute. She lived in the California cities of Hollywood, Dana Point, Laguna Beach and died in Santa Ana on Dec 23, 1969. Her married names were Blakley, Skidmore, Christian, Cromwell and Liddle. Her work includes seascapes, landscapes, and portraits.
